looking to buy surfboard. any suggestions?

Hey, i'm new to surfing and i'm looking to buy my first board, i have had a few suggestions so far. they are the BIC 6'7, a used Robert August bud llamas 6'0. lots of people say that learning on a longboard is better, but all my friends who surf learned on short boards and they say it has helped them in the long run. i was wondering if anyone has other suggestions for new boards, or if i should get one of the boards already suggested?

You can learn on a shortboard but it will take a lot longer and it will not be as fun. If you learn on a longboard, it will not hurt you in the long run, in fact it will help you because you have caught a lot more waves than a beginner shortboarder. Go to your local surf shop to get a longboard and stay away from BIC boards because they are pop outs.
