1 white wire, 1 black wire for fan control device?
I bought an inline fan for venting out the crawl space and i also bought a variable speed fan control so i can control the amount of air.
But the fan control device comes with 1 white wire and 1 black wire and i have no idea where they connect. How do i install this???
I have done electrical work before but have never come accross 1 white and 1 black wires.
Help 
Using an electrical tester (about $5 at any building centre), determine which of your incoming wires is the hot one. Usually the black. Connect that to the black lead on the control, and connect the white lead from the control to the black wire on the fan. The white wire on the fan now connects to your incoming neutral wire, which should be the white one from the panel. This now sends the current through the control, to the fan and back to the neutral to complete the circuit. A little hint, most dimmers/fan controls have wire leads. Just think of them as the two screws on you regular single pole switches.
